Portable washers -- violation of lease?

I'm about to move into a studio without laundry in the building or nearby. I know that portable washers typically are prohibited by the lease agreement. Does anyone have experience with using a "washer alternative"? I'm looking at something that is about the size of a bucket, doesn't hook up to plumbing (you pour the water in the top) or electricity, and is hand operated. Would something like the... [more]
