The French had a great part in our country's break away from the English, in fact, instrumental. And of all the founding fathers, it's not fair to single one out of the others but there is a reason Franklin is the $100.
And at the time of the revolution, people hated the French for not engaging the English fleet here in the states but their global bouts of water polo where doing the job spreading the English thin. And we ended up using the French in our treaty negotiations when we signed with the English and even the French at the time said it was a deal we couldnt pass up.

But let's not be delusional, the French helped us not just for "la fraternité de la liberté," but for French interests.
And French interests conflicting or the appearance of conflicting with us in recent times is just out of hypocricy, we see now how willing they'll get involved when their oil well is in jeopardy (Libya).

Though I'll agree it silly to hate just about any people(s), kneejerk nationalism we see is hardly an exclusive american symptom, it is quite global.

since no one seems to be really offended by the conspiracy theories, i'm just going with it. did you ever think that when france built the reactor in iraq in the late 70s the people who made that deal were pretty sure that either israel or iran would take that thing out before it did anyone harm? i've always thought that, that is was a very smart and relatively safe deal for them, it was just easy money and nothing more.

So, LICC, what you're saying is that there are no new restaurants in Long Island City - just the closed ones are being replaced by other ones, that will be closed, soon, too.

One diner, one bar and one restaurant closed. They are all being replaced with restaurants. In addition, three new restaurants are coming in. This is in addition to 5-10 new places that opened in the past year or so.

But in steve's math, there are no net new restaurants in LIC. No wonder he couldn't hack it as an accountant.
