Agent switching firms

I am an agent that is in the midst of a sale. We are in contract to close mid September. I was supposed to switch firms in two weeks. I know the company on the contract is who gets the commission, but how do I finish out the deal if I am at another firm? Do i just go to the closing and drop the check off at my previous firm and have them mail me my split later on?
