Landmark Status

Discussion about
There is a series of one-story buildings across the street from us which have landmarked status. Is there anyway of knowing if they can be torn down and built higher - or the space has to be maintained as is? Also, how can one find out who owns the air rights of a space . . . i.e. the building next door v. the building itself. Appreciate any feedback. Thanks!
