Even though the location is great, the super of the building is awful and runs the place like his kingdom. Lots of ridiculous rules, fees and procedures that make moving in or out, or even bringing in a small piece of furniture, a nightmare. Recent remodel of lobby is the ugliest remodel ever, makes the place look like a Motel 6 instead of luxury doorman building. Cheap tile, random mirrors across from elevators on the floors, and cheesy artwork make the place look cheap...this is how a place decorated by Wal-Mart would look. They booted all the long-term people out of the building by not renewing leases in the name of renovating their apartments. After a gut reno, they offered them back for an extra $1,000 per month over previous outrageous rent...not a bad return for the remodel for the new owners...an extra $12,000 per apartment per year. This is for no new services, facilities and exactly the same square footage as before. Plus, they get to live with all the dust and noise of a construction site. This has to be the unfriendliest building in NY. [less]
