I have a quick question that I tried to post previously.
A friend moved out of her apartment early and told the owner that I am interested in taking the now-vacant apartment.
The owner has indicated to the management company that she would like me to be the new tenant.
The management company has sent me the application along with a break out of what I owe in terms of rent, deposit etc.
Also on this list is a 17% BROKERS FEE....... I am refusing to pay it as
1. it is well above the 15% standard
2. The management company has provided absolutely no service to me
3. the management company has not even had me sign documents, nor disclosed, that they are now acting as a "dual agent"
4. The management company has not even had to LIST the apartment. It was a done deal before the tenant moved out, as the landlord specifically requested that I be the tenant.
How can I negotiate out of this fee???
