The dual agent fee- I am the buyer

Recently I contacted an agent whom my husband met in a party. He introduced me a condo, which I made an offer right after I saw it next day. He said he will be the dual agent of this sale. After he submitted the offer, he said on the phone:" We never talk about there is a small fee for me. How about 2% of this sale"... I was surprised. He explained the way his company paid him, he got messed up. So, he needs to get some money from the buyer. While my offer is accept, do I really need to pay for his company issue? I never sign any contract with him regarding this dual agent fee...
