Noise Level Living Near a Hospital

My husband and I considering purchasing an apartment near St. Luke's Roosevelt hospital on 58th Street. The apartment will be on a relatively low floor. While the broker assures us the ambulances shut off their sirens when they are near 59th street, and that the building's windows block noise (it was built in the 1990's), we are still concerned that we will be up late at night hearing sirens. Anyone live in the area that can comment? Thanks.
