Missing DOB Files?

The DOB wants me to produce drawings from the 1980s indicating that my porch enclosure was permitted. But the DOB does not have such drawings on file (they are referenced in the permit, but the actual drawings aren't in their files, and the seller of my building doesn't have them). Is there anything I can do? Isn't the DOB supposed to be the source of these types of things?
