I would be careful renting this apartment. It is co-owned by a mother and son who do not get along. My girlfriend and I applied, signed leases, and were given approval to move in to this apartment by the owner and management company. On the day of our move in, literally right after the movers brought in the last of our stuff, the son, for some reason, decided that he did not want us living in the apartment and made us move out on the spot. He literally made the movers disassemble all our furniture (that they had just spent the last hour re-assembling), re-pack and package all of our belongings, and re-load it back onto their truck. We, until this moment, had no idea of the co-ownership structure, had no idea the son was a co-owner. In any event, he made us move out knowing *full well* that we had nowhere to go, that he would literally be making us homeless. He apologized, said that his mother had gone through with the rental without his permission and forged his signature on documents, and then he made us leave. All of our belongings - literally everything we own except our laptops - went to a storage facility in Yonkers. My girlfriend didn't even have her contacts or glasses, as they were in a small "necessities" bag that, due to my utter shock, was packed back onto the van and sent to Yonkers. No clothes, nothing. It was awful. I am fully aware and conscious of the fact that worse things happen to people every day, but this was really a traumatic event that we are still reeling from. The son never offered us any explanation. Probably the worst part is that we gave up an amazing apartment on Prospect Park that we loved living in for this (our landlords were great people, and we were not in a lease, we did not have to move out). And now, nearly 3 months later, to see the apartment back on the market for rent... I wouldn't wish what happened to us on any one, so I would proceed with caution if considering renting this apartment. [less]
