Any recomendations for Architect for pre-war apt renovation? Needs to be familiar with board approvals, landmarks, and have design feel
Talk to others in your building who have recently gone through this for their recommendations and advice. Architects who already know your particular building will have some advantages. Also ask the super for recommendations. If the super liked the architect/contractor, that is a huge plus for you if you use them. Cold calls like this one will get you information of completely indeterminate value.
No no no, kylewest... edge75, just sue the Co-op board to ensure you get this information. I'm sure they are "holding" back something... you can use the "Feedom of Information" act. :)
I know one who is excellent. Whats your email address and I will send you the link to his website and contact info?
I can recommend a friend who owns an architectural firm in Midtown Manhattan.
edge75, I can reccommend - www.francoistenenbaum.com
He's brillant! He's done many apartments in NYC both pre and post war and has even done a few townhouses.
Contact info is on website.
Do Not Use Raymond Romano Contracting.
Platt Dana. They are terrific- see their website. Beautiful, clean lines, and well versed in coop renovation culture.

They are very efficient and creative, and won’t waste your time or money.
Their contractor will give you an accurate cost from the beginning so you won’t waste time designing something you can’t afford.Building and dob approvals went easy.
