Discussion about
When looking for price paid for a property, knowing only the address, what do you input into Block and Lot; the street and address?? Sorry, confused about trying to find original price paid...was playing with it and didn't have much luck.

It's okay, it's really a confusing system.
I use the street address, and then it gives you the lot. Sometimes you have to extrapolate from multiple documents: usually what you want to look for is the mortgage documents.

You have to go back a step to "Find Addresses and Parcels" to get the block and lot numbers for the address (or address and apt if a condo.)

If a co-op, no way to search by unit, but you can narrow the docs down by date range if you have one.

Oops. Listen to NWT. I am not sophisticated with ACRIS.

1) Instead of the "Search Property Records" link on the main page, click on "Find Addresses and Parcels".

2) Enter the address in the provided fields. Leave the "Unit" field blank for a coop. Fill it in for a condo.

3) Click on "Find BBL".

4) If ACRIS finds the Block and Lot, click on "Document Search by BBL"; ACRIS will transfer you to the "Search by Parcel Identifier" screen, with the Block and Lot pre-populated.

5) Enter date parameters (optional)

6) Click on "Search".

I'll go one better. Have 2 windows open. One to Pshark & one to ACRIS. Pshark gives you 5? free reports/day. Use Pshark to find block/lot #. Much nicer user interface.

Or have 2 windows open and use NYC's Building Info System to find the block #.

NYCMap and the new digital tax maps are good too to find block/lot. I forget addresses sometimes so go by location.
