Have you tried stevejhx of Stevejhx's Translations? He will overwhelm the seller with comparisons to NYBITS listings, post all the time on streeteasy about the property you want to buy being too expensive, and pick fights with people on Long Island city until the price drops by 60-70%. He works with rhino86, CPA, despite rhino's homophobia. When needed, he also works with DwaynePipe who is his heavy and is known to show up with a lead pipe to make his point.

I presume this is a joke, but if not, what does he charge?

Funny you should ask. He only takes your tax rebate check (based on your effective rate) from the mortgage interest but does not charge other transaction expenses.

NewbieNY: Are you looking at a particular neighborhood, price range or property type? Sustantiating a "lowball" bid requires a certain amount of research and analysis, especially if an agent isn't already familiar with the relevant market sector.

Personally, I'd welcome this type of assignment if the target properties were prewar sixes or sevens on West End Avenue. I wouldn't touch it if you were bidding on condos in FiDi; too much time, too low a probability of success.
