Discussion about
In her interview. Video at following link: http://www.barbaracorcoran.com/blog/?p=135 Remember she is the head of a large real estate company whose goal is to get the best prices for it's seller clients which makes her remarks very interesting..... seems like genuine advice.
bid low, bid low, bid low, bid low......
REPEAT
bid low, bid low, bid low, bid low......
Ummm she said submit a bid on overpriced places or dumps. I don't know how/why this applies to #2 and don't get what #1 is implying.
bid low, bid low, bid low......
keep being a bitter renter, keep being a bitter renter, keep being a bitter renter......
REPEAT
bid low, bid low, bid low......
keep being a bitter renter, keep being a bitter renter, keep being a bitter renter......
REPEAT
bid low, bid low, bid low......
keep being a bitter renter, keep being a bitter renter, keep being a bitter renter......
REPEAT
It's funny how someone can say something and two people get two totally different impressions
She is saying if you make lower offers you wont get the door slammed in your face. Since you people are chickens and constantly try to justify/rationalize higher prices (the excuses you make for being chickens) you dont even try.
#6 she is the head of a major real estate company so she is not going to come out and say "bid low" directly.
How about just stick to good properties?
How about figuring out the games realtors and sellers play with asking prices and not just offering the highest price.
I believe Barbara Corcoran was referring to apartments that are flawed with maybe a poor view or possibly needing a lot of renovation. These properties take longer to sell and yes you may get a deal on them. Also, properties that were priced very aggressively to begin with will sometimes sell for a little less than had they been priced correctly in the first place because they too will sit on the market a long time and the seller may get to a point where they just want to sell. I am sure she was not advising someone to bid low on a good property that is fairly priced as it is almost a guarantee that you will be outbid by someone else so why waste your time?
#8 you are wrong! She is not the head of a major RE firm. Rather she WAS the head of a major firm whose name is eponymous. She sold the firm more than 3 years ago! Know your facts before you post, dummy!
#15--i'm not #8 but i know she's still on the payroll of Corcoran as a consultant, so don't be quick to call other people dummy, dummy.
#17: That is neither relevant nor responsive. I did not state that she is not associated with the company. I merely noted that she is not the head anymore, so it is you who are too quick to call someone dummy, dummy!
#18/15--i'm #17 u r right. looks like i read the post too quickly. please accept my apologies, i guess i'm a dummy afterall.
How is her being on the firm's dole not relevant? Argue semantics all you want, but for the queen of shills to say something of this nature is very significant.
Indeed, but what is the significant thing that she said? Place bids on overpriced properties and dumps. That is a far cry from stating that all places are over priced. In any event, I have to think that what the poster who noted that she is not the head meant by noting whether she has a title there or not was in response to the many posts above who touted that the head of a major firm said such and such. Well, the head of the firm did not say such and such. As a matter of fact even if she were the head and said what she did, it would be a misinterpretation to take that as advice for across the board low bids.
Interestingly, the actual head of Corcoran recently announced that she was signing a contract to purchase an apartment in the Element, a new condo rising on the Upper West Side. Since seemingly so much weight and deference should be given to the words of the head of Corcoran, then everyone should run out and buy in new developments on the UWS.
By the way, this thread is really stupid.
