Discussion about
I want to become a marshal: "The best, or worst, of the city marshals last year was Martin A. Bienstock, who earned $5.4 million, more than any other marshal, through a variety of fees and the 5 percent assessment known as poundage." http://www.nytimes.com/2009/10/04/realestate/04deal2.html?ref=realestate
It's a patronage job.
Work in some political campaigns for an up-and-coming charlatan.
I thought marshals work for the govt. and get paid a govt. salary. What's the difference between a U.S. Marshal and someone like Mr. Bienstock who makes a goldmine?

The U.S. Marshal Service is the enforcement arm of the federal courts. Regular gov't job.
A NYC Marshal is a whole other story. See http://www.nyc.gov/html/mccm/html/about_marshals/fast_facts.shtml.
Ambition seemed to bite "His Excellency President for Life, Field Marshal Al Hadji Doctor Idi Amin" in the ass.
I believe "doctor" was the last straw.
Stick to just president. :)
