Yes, Chubb is one of the best insurance contracts your can purchase. You can't buy direclty from them, you have to work with a broker. The other carriers that offer a similar insurance contract include Fireman's Fund, ACE, Chartis (formerly AIG) and PURE is now a player. These carriers really market to the affluent/high net worth group, however, you can certainly insure an 800 square foot condo with them, but with insurance, you get what you pay for, hence they are much more expensive than mass market companies that advertise daily on t.v. If low-price is your main determining factor, these carriers won't work for you.

Travelers is not in the same league as Chubb, Fireman's Fund, Chartis or Pure, it's like a white table-cloth restaurant vs. a burger king. Travelers is purely a mass market carrier and shouldn't be held out for anything more.

Agreed, Chubb is expensive, but they're good. Had a claim for an antique chandelier that fell from the
ceiling, shattered, damaged the table underneath. Just had to get an electrician to verify why it happened, they wrote a check for the cost of a comparable (and I supplied the comp) cost of a replacement antique fixture, and a table. not a huge claim ($12,000) but done really easily and quickly.

Also, let's say you had a really nice kitchen, and got water damage from a leak which ruined some marble counters. Chubb would replace ALL the counters on the assumption (which you might have to document) that you couldn't exactly match the new to the existing.

They actually come to the apartment to see if they agree with the insured value.

tallisman, not everyone who wants a simple condo insurance policy needs the expense of chubb. travelers is somewhere in the middle, with a decent reputation and fairly strict underwriting. not everyone is looking for a cgl polixy.

I like http://www.mogil.com/

I've used them for business and home insurance, and my company car. They have Chubb and other carriers.
