Someone should do the math on energy consumption on towels vs these things. Less laundry with the dryer.

a) I HATE the way my hands feel after using a conventional hand blow dryer in public restrooms, i can't imagine how my whole body would feel.

b) It takes me about 30 seconds to wipe myself off with a towel, why would I want to stand there for 3 minutes?

c) The newest drying technology doesn't use heat at all: it uses high volume/high speed air to "blast" water off things. Whenever I've used these in public restrooms I always think to myself "thank god they came up with this and removed those old hot air dryers".

All great new technology is met with resistance from the Luddites. I am sure once you carefully study this video you will realize the benefits.

Anybody here ever read Wet magazine from the late 70s/early 80s? I have an almost complete collection of issues, mostly purchased back in the day at the St Marks Bookstore at their old location.

sometimes a youtube link is just the ticket.

i'm becoming a bit of a luddite in terms of the technology that makes life less enjoyable, but i'm all for those innovations that add value.

I guess you won't be getting the new Honda U3-X either

http://www.engadget.com/2009/09/24/hondas-u3-x-personal-mobility-device-is-the-segway-of-unicycles/

Just the thing for those lofts without a master bathroom and a long hike in the middle of the night.

And yes, the video is revealing, but I prefer a radiator/towel heater. http://www.runtalnorthamerica.com/towel_radiators/neptune-towel-warmer.html

Yes, a warm towel is so nice. Probably way more practical than the whole body dryer until they come out with the microwave version that drys you in 5 seconds.

"The Segway of unicycles"

Remember all the hoopla about the Segway? They made it seem like they were going to sell millions and everywhere you went people would be on them. How many you actually see? "In a March 2009 interview, company official said the firm "has shipped over 50,000" Segways"

The Segway failed because they were banned from sidewalks. And I can see the potential for Segway/people collisions. I wonder if they are allowed to use the bike lanes.

I cannot hear the word segway without thinking of Weird Al's White and Nerdy, which was just brilliant.
