Discussion about 5 Riverside Drive #14B
I thought I'd some time move to the UWS, and I'm mora Riverside Park type than a Central Park type. Thought this type of place would be ideal, well located for me, high floor, views, pre-war, closets, window in the kitchen, window in the bath, but I figured, maybe its on the market for a long long time and I could look at it in the $650K range. Oh well. I guess the cookie cutter crap is getting the bigger discounts and this ... not. I also noted the relatively high maintenance. I shouldn't be too sad, I didn't have the $$ for it right now and didn't even visit the place.

Yes, that is a great one bedroom in a well located building. I'm not surprised it appeared to get large $$.

How to save 2 million dollars - make an overmarket bid on 14A and ask on 14B. Note the closing price on 15AB 2 years ago. Chaching.

Pretty bad sign for the buiding if the owner of 14A can't afford to buy adjacent 14B.

Or 14A may just be happy with 14A. Or might figure the combo premium isn't what it was, so no point in either paying for too-large space for years, or flipping for big bucks only to have to find something as good.

My friend in a B there had the same quandary when the next-door A came up for sale. He'd only have done it if one of the penthouses he really wants had happened to be available at the same time.
