Disappear? Who disappeared? Here I am. Just updating an XP image I have under VMWare, but it eats up all my computer resources, making posting difficult. Plus I have a lot of work to do!

Nonetheless, this thread is ostensibly about Bank of America moving its HQ to New York. I was quoted as saying it wouldn't happen, and certainly wouldn't happen under Ken Lewis. I was right. Speculation brought out the vultures - Juicy, LICC - who based on a rumor claimed I was wrong, and that BofA would be moving here.

Not.

Then LICC tried to cover his tracks by claiming as a victory that the HQ of Quick and Reilly - BofA's discount brokerage unit - would be integrated into Merrill Lynch in New York. Well, which one is bigger, Q&R or ML?

Has nothing to do with BofA moving its headquarters to NYC, which it's not.

JuiceMan, do I have to go through (again) and quote all the predictions you made that were absolutely, positively wrong? I hope not....

hfs, I don't know about mimi, but I sure do miss spunky.

It is pretty funny to hear juice pointing out lousy predictions...

steve, your recap may be your fantasy of events, but you should try sticking with actual facts and the truth. You wouldn't appear so disengenous and loony.

"It is pretty funny to hear juice pointing out lousy predictions..."

How does somewhereelse, a relatively new poster, know anything about my predictions? Has he read 36 months of posts and come up with a silly conclusion or is he a long time poster using a different alias. hmmmmmmmm

"but you should try sticking with actual facts and the truth."

Why would steve start this type of radical behavior now?

"JuiceMan, do I have to go through (again) and quote all the predictions you made that were absolutely, positively wrong? I hope not...."

You can do whatever you want steve, no one believes you anyway. By the way steve, do you have any idea what happened to nyc10022?

As opposed to your virtual facts, LICC?

Actually, there are tons of highlight reels.... your greatest hits alone had me laughing for hours.

If the conclusions are silly, its only because the original quotes were so out of this world.

This is spectacularly hilarious! ----

--- I just searched on "Charlotte will be the US capital of finance" and only find it in this thread.

--- The thread JuiceMan linked to: it's in your first post.
http://streeteasy.com/nyc/talk/discussion/7601-the-death-of-citigroup-and-new-york-as-a-banking-center

--- "Charlotte will be the US capital of finance"

And who's to say it won't be? I never said it was, but it is #2.

JuiceMan, you forced my hand:

"JuiceMan. about 23 months ago. "No one has denied the impact of the credit crisis billshiers, I'm not sure why not being pessimistic equates to denying reality. What you and others fail to acknowledge is some positive indicators that MAY help offset some of the downturn of the economy. If you look at the issue from both the bull and bear points of view and take time to form a balanced opinion, you may gain some confidence that the "stealth softness" could be short term thing and that these clouds will eventually clear up. I think this article from the journal nicely sums up both the challenges and opportunities for 2008. WE ARE NOT IN A CRISIS."

From the late, great malraux's famous thread - the best one ever posted anywhere: "where are all the idiots who made the 2007 doomsday predictions?!?"

So Juicy, you're so worried about the few instances I might be wrong in that you posted an entire thread about it. How's about this one, that you didn't answer?

It is an interesting question but with all of the layoffs in NYC there is a lot of NYC natural talent and maybe it means wages get knocked down here and then it does make sense for BofA. Not that the headquarters really matters so much this is a nationwide bank and headquarter people aren't necessarily people who make the money for the comapny.

steve, you should really keep track of your own posts. It is bad etiquette to post the same thing on multiple threads and the chastise someone for not answering them. You really should be ashamed of yourself.

My apartment in Charlotte had 80% carpeting, an unfortunately I developed asthma as a result. But luckily I got relocated back to NY, because Charlotte never materialized as the financial capital of the world. My asthma has subsided now.
