Discussion about
Sorry to repost, Sunday crowd had no replies. I am looking for a handyman for some small jobs in my apt - fix a built in radiator cover, paint a room, install some new scones, etc. Any suggestions? Thanks!

It's a good question. The problem with using handymen who work full time for other buildings is that they probably can't bring all the tools and supplies they need to your home (unless you own all the tools already). We have a very good handyman in my rental building who I thought of asking to do small chores when we move, but we don't have all the large tools that he'll need to do the work. There's a large company which is always in my neighborhood called NYC Brownstone or Manhattan Brownstone who seem to do that type of work or more than that. If there is a reputable local hardward store, they might be able to recommend someone.

I often consult the New York Magazine website when I need to find specialized services or stores and I've found their recommendations to be very useful. Their recommendation for Best Handyman 2008 is Paul Kennedy at (212) 242-1800 at nycitystuff.com.
Please do a follow up post on SE website if you use find a good handyman to let me know. Thanks.
