its not a $ for $ comparison and it also goes beyond RE. and it most certainly is analogous in my opinion.

What is more relevant is, how far above the mean rate of return over a statistically valid period of time did tokyo real estate get, as compared to NYC real estate? absolute comparisons don't mean much; relative analysis' may mean something.
