Discussion about
Want to switch the switches and outlets in my apartment, not moving any switches, just replacing existing with new. Also, installing recessed lighting, running of the same switches/boxes as the existing? Does either or both of these need a permit? Board did not ask for permit before approving work

Provided you do the work with a licensed electrician I do not believe you need a permit.

Agree. You should only need a licensed electrician.

Thank you, how about this, in the bathroom the shut off valves (where my apt intersects with the building) are not in the best condition. Before I re-tile I would like to replace them. Do i need a permit for that?

You are replacing a tile floor, doing electric work and plumbing work -- this is starting to sound like a pretty substantial job.

If you touch your shut off valves you may find the coop requires that you replace piping beyond that.

Given the overally scope of your project, I am starting to think you are getting in zone where a permit is required.
