Discussion about
Nobody tell perfitz... It's still a renter's market, Barbara Corcoran says Barbara CorcoranNow is a good time for renters to negotiate with landlords for better rents and more incentives. It's a "good time for tenants right now," said Barbara Corcoran, founder of the Corcoran Group, on the "Today" show (click here to view the video). Even tenants with bad credit may be able to rent homes, she said. Tenants have a lot of room to negotiate in states like Florida, where vacancy rates are at highs. While people have become accustomed to concessions like free rent and lower security deposits, today's landlords are offering things like flat screen TVs, cash, decorating allowances and iPhones, Corcoran said. "If you can think of it, that's what landlords are offering today," she said.

typical broker shill....oh wait
Way to go out on a limb Barbara.
Next she'll say inventory should rise in January and February.
i've been surprised... barbara has actually been one of the more honest brokers in the last few months. She does that pricing segment on the sunday morning re show, and she's always under the other brokers... and tells sellers not to hold out for a higher price... things might get worse... etc.
Then again, maybe it helps get more transactions going... its honesty only because there is some 'incentive'.
I thought she sold her firm a few years ago. Does she still work there?
such a genius... so insightful
Thanks for the posting - I thought it was quite insightful.
I was particularly struck by the recommendation to begin renewal negotiations four to five months before the expiration of your lease. (I did it three months in advance last year - which did startle my landlord. And I did get a 14% rent reduction.)
But, But...buy the rumor sell the news...Babs has been so fucked up for a decade....her new found religion could prove to be a perfect signal...BUY BUY BUY...she reminds me a bunch of the one hit wonders Abbey Joseph Cohen and Elaine Garzarelli.
Now that she cashed out (I think she sold it for $30m), she can be honest.
