Discussion about
We has finally closed on our new place. It's been a long time coming, we first started looking in May and negotiated a price on this place back September. I previously mentioned that I had trouble with our bank, BOA. The loan officer who I despise did not show up to the closing which is good, I did not want to actually meet him in person since I still harbor much ill will. Overall the closing... [more]

I previously mentioned that I had trouble with our bank, BOA. The loan officer who I despise did not show up to the closing which is good, I did not want to actually meet him in person since I still harbor much ill will. Overall the closing went very smoothly and only took 2 hours or so.
I could not have done it without everyone's help here on understanding contracts, inspections, mortgages, due diligence, the Harlem market, etc. etc. So thank you for the info and the laughs.
You probably won't see me around here as much. I have to focus on moving in, finishing my PhD, and starting a career (possibly as a nyc public school teacher). Good luck to everyone in their future endeavors.
I leave you the immortal words of Kanye West:
Know what this is
It's a celebration, bitches!
Grab a drink, grab a glass
After that I grab yo ass

glamma - 2 bedroom duplex in harlem, near striver's row. Not a new development. We got it for 19% lower than the sellers did.
This is our first place so we'll see how long we can stay there. Unfortunately we don't get to move in for a couple of weeks, as the seller needs to wait to close on their new place.

congrats -- i expect to close later this month -- multi-month process!
hope your advisor does well with his renovation too
BOA has not been fun to deal with
Expect you will be quite happy with your choice -- 19% below what the seller paid is impressive
