Why do we even have a watch list?

Why not just a no fly list. Everyone currently on the watch list should be placed on the no fly list and let them prove otherwise. We also should have much higher restrictions for flying for non-Americans in or to the U.S. Those restrictions should be tiered, like Britain or France or Japan or Australia should be barely more than an American. And people from Nigeria, Afghanistan, Iran should be subject to full intrusive searches, advance purchase restrictions, photos and fingerprints, and limited period visas, and fees to cover the extra costs.

I wonder if they're on the 'watch' list because if they get on the 'no fly' list, they'd know they were being surveilled. It's certainly seems true, though, that our security people are doing a poor job, indeed. Had this idiot's underpants exploded, we'd all have had a merry Christmas.

And if we prevent some people from coming to the US we might have fewer scares in Times Square.
