Discussion about
I am going to tally up Internet purchases, and pay the use tax going forward (from 2008). Anyone have any moral/ethical reason NOT to do so?

Yes, because New York passed the complete bogus law telling companies that if they had affiliates in New York who put banners on their home pages, this counted as a presence in NY, and the retailer had to collect local sales tax.

Quite a scam, and NY should be punished.

nyc10023: I did that the last three years, but I suspect I won't be doing that going forward since 99% of my purchases are through Amazon, which NY State bullied into charging a "sales" tax.
