Also, the coordinating items are, to me, ridiculously expensive. What do people think of Restoration Hardware? Will it look like we "cheaped out"? I know the finishes may not match up exactly (i.e., the polished nickel from one manufacturer will look different than another's) but since Horus doesn't make coordinating items anyway (at least for the master bath) we already have this problem. Any other suggestions for where to look? Our bathrooms have a vintage vibe so anything too modern won't really look right. [less]
Is this in Nassau, or in Suffolk?
Since I appear to have offended alanhart's delicate aesthetic sensibilities (as well as unleashing his unsuccessfully repressed insecurities relating to his suburban upbringing), does anyone else have any advice for where to get bathroom fittings?
Have you looked at Urban Archeology?
oh, it was kind of funny. I think Resto is probably fine for what you're describing .. the purists here will tell you to replace the bathroom door knobs and locks (didn't we come up with a name for the little thing that locks a bathroom?) too ... probably worth buzzing by Simon's on the east side just for a look-see.

Restoration Hardware is fine. I have some RH hardware in a bathroom.
I like rejuvenation for vintage-look hardware - cast brass & porcelain: http://www.rejuvenation.com/typepageTowel%20Bars/templates/houseparts_group.html
We had issues with everything we got from Rest Hrdwr during our renov. Believe it or not, we used Pottery Barn and are pretty happy with it.
rejuvenation hardware...
Thanks--we are replacing door knobs and locks (and doors). We didn't go super fancy on that stuff either, just standard Baldwin. I am just thinking about the towel rack, the toilet paper holder and maybe a soap dish.
I have looked at Urban Archaeology and I LOVE their stuff but I was wondering if it was worth spending the money on this kind of super-basic stuff (a towel rack at Urban Archaeology is $300 versus $50 at Resto).
I'm also a fan of rejuvenation.com. Thanks!
