Discussion about
anyone had it done? what constitutes an excellent job? recommend anyone? bathroom is pre-war---nice BIG bathtub, want to keep it.
I would ask your neighbors since you live in a pre-war bldg. they must have re-glazed theirs. Good luck
I used Al & Dave Bathtub Reglazing (718) 761-5800 http://al-dave-son.com/), they had been highly recommended. When they first came to do it, they sent a guy who didn't really do a good job, he left little pieces of "stuff" on the tub which he then glazed over, and it promptly picked off. We called and complained, and they sent over someone else to look and redo, we saw right away he was much more of a professional at what he was doing. If I remember right, they guarantee it for 5 years. It's been about 9 years since I had it done and I do have little chips in it, and one big place where the glaze has come off, and that's only because I left a small plastic thingy sitting on it in the same place for two weeks. In the former life of my apartment, the water must have been left running, and the porcelain was totally worn off so the cast iron of the tub was exposed (in a really big area), they were able to fill it in and cover that all up.
