Discussion about
Hi, we are renovating an apartment we recently purchased and want to install five recessed floor lights in the hallway. To my surprise, it has proven extremely difficult to find a brand that manufactures such lights. Apparently, the outdoor ones cannot be applied indoors in wood due to fire hazard concerns. Has anyone had experience with such lights? Thank for your help, Ananaj

Please note that, in the event of an emergency, your seat cushions double as flotation devices.

I did a project a few years ago and I'm almost certain we sourced the in-floor lights from Lighting Collaborative over on Park Ave South.

Depending on the output you need, a better choice is probably an LED source. They still produce plenty of heat, but far less than an incandescent, longer life, way more efficient, etc. I looked at a few that I have used outdoors and as you said, they are not indoor-rated, but I am sure they exist.

Thank you, rvargas, just spoke to them and they seem very knowledgeable.

Will visit their showroom over the next couple of days.

"you can get an LED rope and attach it along the baseboard"

You could also drape a red handkerchief over a lampshade and call it "decor".
