Discussion about
Can anyone comment on Citiquiet versus Cityproof for their soundproof windows? Are Cityproof windows of much higher quality to justify their higher price? Thanks.

you can also go to other places and ask for "laminate" windows, or something like that. they will do the same and most likely for 1/2 the price. i used http://www.windowsweare.com/ and they offered me that for $100 per window.

After a lot of research, I choose CityProof for my apartment. I got the feeling that Citiquiet was overstating the effectiveness of their solution for the lower price. The Cityproof windows have been terrific.

I'm for Citiproof. There is another thread about this topic.

Thanks all for your comments. I got onsite estimates from both Citiquiet and Cityproof. I think I'm going with Cityproof. Does anyone know if there is a huge difference between the 3/4 inch and the 9/16 inch windows? Also, did anyone opt for the ultra clear laminated glass that is 15% extra or did you just get the regular laminated glass that supposedly has a slightly greenish hue? Is there a big difference? I would appreciate any feedback anyone can provide. Thanks again!!

Yes we can achieve this by using soundproofing materials. e.g. heavy window cloth

I used one of the company's mentioned. Was satisfactory.

Make sure to take into account other sources of noise from the outside -- vents, heat/ac units etc. The windows won't shield against that.

will: Cityproof makes soundproof covers for a/c units. When you aren't using them you can put it on. When a/c is in use, the noise covers up the outside noise enough.
