I was disappointed...they did not have a lot of displays of room set ups aside from dining by design.

I agree, it totally felt like a glorified street fair. I felt so ripped off.

Ah, sorry. It wasn't a "home design" so much as vendors for stuff (which I like).

I loved it!

I'm not sure what people were expecting, but they had a nice splash of that silly experimental stuff off to the right (the only cool idea I got was using LED-infused coasters under the crystal at each place setting), and so many vendors that it literally took all day to get through it all. My only complaint is that these things are laid out in such a way that it's easy to miss an entire aisle of vendors.

I'm always impressed with how talented and creative people are. There were quite a few true artists.

On a separate note, I was able to test out Miele's new fancy upright vacuum. I was leaning towards a Kirby, but I was so impressed with how well this model performed. And they're not kidding when they say it's "whisper-quiet"; I had to lean down towards it to make sure the motor was actually running! Perfect for apartment dwellers who like to do their vacuuming after 9:00 PM!

I went to this show a year or two ago, and it did nothing at all for me, except that Eva Zeisel -- at the age of 102 or so -- was signing her books. That alone made it worthwhile. She's the joint!

NYCMatt: We are in agreement. It wasn't really an interiors kinda show.

AH: You and me both. Should I spend 100+ on a Zeisel kettle? I already have the Chantal classic in red. I know, design porn and all.

This was my first AD show. Frankly, I didn't know what else to expect. But how exactly was this NOT an "interiors" show?

Oh yeah! And there was this FABULOUS bath faucet set that looked like something off the Chrysler Building! The handles were very deco-looking eagle's wings, and the faucet itself was like an abstract eagle's head.
