Discussion about
anyone have experience on signing a lease now with many buildings having a no move in policy if there is a strike and a standard contract that appears to require the tenant to pay even if they can't move in? am i wrong on contract interpretation? thanks
Speaking of standard contract interpretations -- what happens if a building refuses to let you move OUT?
Is there any basis for a landlord to charge rent for time you've spent an apartment because they refused to allow you to vacate? And suppose tenants decided to move out an unmanned door of the building. Would the "security guards" have authority to stop them? Would the police?
just throw a rider on the lease stating that if there are days that you are unable to move in during the strike, those will be credited back vs. second months' rent. That prob. won't fly with a large landlord, but it should work with a small one.

lad. i believe one large building sent a note indicating if you can't move out you need to call management company and negotiate an extension to lease. pricing wasn't mentioned.

If someone from the building stops you from moving out during the strike, tell tem to go F themself and move out anyway.
