Discussion about
Hi all, I would like to run a background check on a potential roommate. As a minimum, I'd want to know his credit history and score, and any potential criminal history. There are many sites out there - can anyone recommend a comprehensive and reasonably priced service? Also - what information do I generally need from the person - name, social, DOB, anything else? Thanks!

Um, I just went to trw.com and it's an auto-related company. Not sure if it's supposed to be a joke (I don't get it?) or a simple typo.

Can anyone else provide meaningful feedback?

how about the three credit bureaus or your local real estate office? Been seeing the commercial for a site called beenverified.com. Is like $15 a month.

You have trust issues.

Perhaps a roommate situation is inappropriate for you.

Trust issues? Maybe teacherdude would like to make sure that his roommate can actually afford to pay his part of the living arrangement. NYCMatt, do you live in the Northern Hemisphere?

1. Do you have the potential roommate's permission? If not, then get it.

2. Use Intelius.com, if you would like to get psycho-spam from them for the rest of your life, or use a throw-away email address. Also their data sucks.

assuming you're renting, the landlord will be doing this for you anyway. surely you don't own the property otherwise you can just kick the deliquent out.

or do you actually think you can rent an apartment and then move someone in on your own, without the ll's permission?

Jim, are your clients/customers the landlords or the tenants?
