Discussion about 108 Fifth Avenue in Flatiron
Is there a reason that the units in this building are so depressing? Considering the prices they are commanding you would think someone in the building would do a nice renovation or get some decent furniture. Every time I see the photos of a place listed here, I get the blues..
haha totally agree. the ceilings look about 8ft high
The great thing about nyc is that there are a ton of choices when it comes to apartment buildings. Sounds like this one didn't work for the other poster. To bring balance to this thread, I lived at this building until last year (was in nyc for 4 years for work). I chose the building bcs 1) I wanted the offerings of the neighborhood, and living on Fifth Ave was a perk; 2) it is newer construction which is rare on lower Fifth , and it went up just before they landmarked the 'ladies mile', so amenities were grandfathered in; 3) it had amenities I valued and couldn't find in the area (e.g., every apt has a vented w/d; all units have a balcony; each apt gets a free storage unit, condo so the rules were manageable/our application process was a breeze); 4) staff was fulltime and highly service oriented-- especially the weekday doorman and super; 5) approx. 50 unit size was not too small but still felt communal. I will say that living thru the lobby reno was tricky to live thru but the outcome was lovely and tasteful to those of us who lived there. As I said, nyc buildings are a matter of preference and taste, and this one more than worked for us. We were sorry to leave.
