Discussion about
I viewed the penthouse 1 Bedrooms over the weekend. They have wonderful private outdoor space and prices were reduced. Might put an offer in... does anyone have any feedback or thoughts?
Was curious about the PHs there. For any obnoxious horn honkers on the Willie B, you have the option to throw eggs at from your terrace.
Of course, they can always throw beer bottles back at ya.
I'd view the apartment one more time one busy Monday morning if I wear you, just to get the ambiance of the sounds (honking, bass inspired music from the low riders) and the smells (bridge traffic exhaust).
Just sayin'
i like this building and this is a great block if you like the Lower East Side. If you're concerned with noise, I recommend having them give you a credit for installing quiet windows. I just had a client install them and they blocked the noise very well. The company says they will block 98 percent of the noise.
Doesn't help your outdoor space, unless you window the whole thing....but then it's no longer an outdoor deck,it's a greenhouse.
The one I was interested was not by the bridge. Here is the link.... http://streeteasy.com/nyc/sale/533713-condo-78-ridge-street-lower-east-side-new-york. I was told that windows were double paned and the apartment seemed to be pretty quiet. It was situated in the middle of the building on the 5th floor facing a school park. I was really impressed with the massive private roof terrace... and the amazing midtown views. The prices a bit more expensive to Williamsburg but obviously more convenient being in the city. Transportation seems to be pretty central with Delancey street station close by. The location is still so so on the south side but northside seems to be up and coming... especially being close to Rivington and not too far from Houston. Still thinking about it but definitely will check it out on a weekday and during rush hours to see how it is. If anyone else has feedback please feel free to share!
i would worry about pollution being so close to the bridge. how it would affect both your health and your resale value.
I am not too concerned about pollution. Most of Manhattan is polluted. Fresh air would be in the burbs. I will check out the units tomorrow during the night time open house and see how noise and air is. Thanks for the insight.
true but it is always considerably worse in close proximity to the bridges and tunnels, this is where the highest asthma rates are, etc.
Put an offer in....they were pretty negotiable... might be going forward!
congratulations! hope it works out for you.
