I looked at a few of their places. Their apartments are tiny, over-renovated and overpriced. They own like half of Nolita. Formerly known as Croman Realty FYI.
thanks. I saw some very negative feedback on the web about them -- that was after i agreed to talk to them; so far i have not signed anything and made no commitments. looks like should pass on them.
Google Steven Croman. He's been a mainstay on the Village Voice's Top 10 worst landlords list. When I moved to the city, I was about to meet a broker at one of Croman's buildings (on Mott or Mulberry Street.) I asked for directions from a Little Italy character, and he said, "don't rent in that building, the landlord's a vampire" in his best Old-World croaky voice. I walked.
thanks. just googled him. looks bad. will move on to other search.
they're good rentals for internationals, students , people with bad credit history and giant dogs as they will take anyone. On the flip side, as mentioned, their apartments are pretty small, and more expensive than comparable places. I don't know what over renovated means.
Brokers to use:
If you're looking in the East Village, definitely check Kings Court Realty on St. Marks. They only deal with old school landlords and are way under market compared to 9300 or Magnum.
If you're looking in Nolita, check with Ed Cabrera at Veracity Real Estate. He has most of the Chinese and Italian landlords that are in the area and his apartments tend to be nicely renovated.
if you're looking in the West Village or Greenwich Village, you should use me ;). But I do charge a hefty fee.

They're scumbags, but have lots of apartments
right up your alley? scumbag? check.
Better a scumbag than a cocksucker like you cc. But dealt with them once, when I was new in the business on a tiny 2bd share for nyu students. Don't do that kind of work anymore, so I stay away. By the way, THIRD sales exclusive went to contract, penned two more new ones in the same building. Business is healthy.
come on already. fess up. you are a totally made up personna.
Isn't this little exchange special.
JH says scumbag, and columbiacounty is white on rice
JH says cocksucker, and columbiacounty is right there once again
hi, just wanted to share my thoughts on croman from a broker's pt of view. yes, great finishes, too easy of an approval but they are small and overprice.
I have covered croman units since they are in prime location but my clients almost always (except for 1)never put an application. They select other fee places that I show them as the base rent are lowered and my fee is normally just 1 mth's rent.
Croman seems to be tailor to students and young professionals that have not built a strong credit or credential.
Happy Renting.
Jamie
This is from my Yelp/Google review...please don't rent with them for your own sanity!
I have lived in two different 9300 Realty apartments- 346 E. 18th St. (3 years) and 410 E. 13th St. (1 year)- and out of the 10 years I have lived in Manhattan, am absolutely certain this is the worst management company in the city. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM!! There are much bigger and better apartments for what you pay for here- with management companies that actually do their jobs.
Their apartments may look really nice when you first see them- but they are extremely overpriced, even for Manhattan. Second, the apartment renovations hide a lot of problems and the management company is impossible to reach to fix them. Do not think "Oh it's just her apartment, mine will be fine"- I've lived in two different apartments in two different buildings with them, plus there are tons of other people who have had the same experience. Here are some fun things you will likely get to experience if you rent one of their apartments:
1) Be prepared to use your vacation or sick days to make sure they do their job. Any time anything was wrong- which was a lot- I had to take time out of my day to go down to the management office and tell someone in person- and THEN I needed to be home for the appointment for things to get fixed. About 5 times, the maintenance people or construction workers were late or a no-show.
2) Rent being raised colossally on renewal (my rent went up $250 higher this year on renewal)
3) No gas for 6 weeks, including over holidays. I also had a broken oven for 2 weeks. So, plan on not spending too much time entertaining or eating in your apartment.
4) Water boiler not working throughout the winter- and taking freezing cold showers during a freezing cold day.
5) Holes in the ceiling for 2 weeks while they tried to fix the pipes in the building. An exterminator who came by was horrified that the apartments were exposed for so long.
6) Construction lasted for a month for the pipes, the workers broke a bunch of things and got dust everywhere in the apartment- the company did not warn or reimburse us
7) Renovations in the apartment above me last 7 months and started at 7:30 am every single morning- which is illegal.
8) The supers in both building would fight with us if we got locked out and wanted them to open our apartment. Neither of them actually helped with anything- we have been waiting a year to get light bulbs that we can't reach replaced in our current apartment
9) In the first apartment, a pipe above us burst. The ceiling started caving in and then there was a giant hole. They never responded to my calls- I literally had to take a day off of work to go all the way down to the actually company to make them fix the ceiling.
10) Paper thin walls and floors- my roommate could literally hear everything the people next door were saying. In both apartments, it sounded like people were walking around in heels all day.
11) Completely disorganized- and somehow it will be come your responsibility to fix it. After all, you can't get the reputation of worst management company in New York if you actually do your job! They lost my information during my lease, and asked me to redo a credit check etc. a year into the lease. Fast forward to my move out date- and they tell me I have to move out a month later than my original lease because they messed up and sent me two renewals, one which had the wrong date.
People are constantly sending flyers around urging residents to report them to the Better Business Bureau or New York State Attorney General. That's always a good sign.
So, why did I choose a second apartment with them after my experience with the first? The same reason a person reading this review would still choose to rent an apartment with them- they think their experience will be different. It won't be.

They are a horrific management company. Avoid at ALL COSTS. They see their tenants as dollar signs, not as people. Completely unreasonable and rude. From the front desk to the top managers. Just do yourself a favor and Google Steve Croman.
This is how they treat their tenants...

to me
Good afternoon,
We understand you are all self quarantine at this time but know the safety and well-being of tenants, have always been our main goal. During these difficult times we fully understand and appreciate the precautions our tenants are taking to prevent the spread the of COVID-19. This video is a necessity in order to avoid any future showing request emails like the ones below.
In lieu of “enforcing” the agreement in your lease ( “ This not a request, this is an obligation to your lease”) you will have two options to choose from:
Immediately take a short video tonight and send Via WeTransfer and an email advising us you have uploaded your video; or
If you are not residing in the apartment ( Not Home/ No one is staying in the apartment And you're unable to provide a key for access or provide it directly yourself ) then the super will go in ( if no key, was provided to 9300 Realty, and change the cylinder) and take the video for you and leave the new key at 9300 Realty, for you to stop and pick up.
Please know until we receive your signed lease renewal, your unit will be listed as available to show.
If we do not receive this video ownership will have the right to reverse all rent concessions and forfeit your security deposit.
Please understand this will alleviate any foot traffic and disturbance to our residents through this crisis.

Illegal on many levels at this time and unenforceable.
I guess it's time to repeat my story of how when I managed the sales side of JI Sopher Greenwich Village office Steve Croman was fired after getting into a fist fight with one of the Rental Managers.
