Hi. I'm not an expert, just a fellow recent first time co-op buyer, but that sounds like maybe around a $60,000 job?

I recommend Anthony Riccio of AD Custom Interiors. 347-267-1681. He did a similar job to what you describe on my apartment and I couldn't be more pleased. Impeccable work. You can check out more references and see a few photos of his work on www.apartmenttherapy.com. Just type Anthony Riccio in the search box.

Good luck.

I can recommend a great place to find contractors: http://www.franklinreport.com/

I found my contractor there who was amazing, Sheridan & Sugrue. I had done a smaller renovation before this last one and used a contractor recommended by my super -- BIG LESSON learned there about the super not being the most objective person to get recs from.

Unlike the above responses we did not have such a great experience dealing with Anthony Riccio of AD Custom Interiors. We found him arrogant, rude. He was going to be bidding on our renovation project and never submitted the bid on time...kept asking for extensions. I saw his work. His work was good but i would never hire him as my contractor for the high handed attitude.

AnonymousNYC,

On thing you should know is more and more buildings are requiring you to obtain a permit if you are removing a wall and or putting on up. You would need to hire an architect and that could cost you anywhere from 5-10k. As far as your scope of work you should budget it yourself to be around 80k but without knowing the size of the apartment it is tough to say.
