(Discussing CENTURY APARTMENTS) As a prospective buyer in the building, I would love to know the thoughts of the residents about living there. It is a certainly a perfect location, and the apartments are very roomy, but is the building well-maintained? Do the window air-conditioners cool the large living rooms?

Hi Thomas, This response is 2 years too late but I thought that some others may be interestested. As a resident I can testify that the building is very well maintained. We had a change in building managers a couple of years ago and the new guy keeps things sparkling and running well. The window ac's are fine but if you have a small closet to spare you can do central with somewhat new technology. The Century is a wonderful home.

Thanks, James. This is very helpful and very good to know. You may be having a new neighbor -- if I can get Irene to get really serious. :)

i have a question about the heating systems in the century. is this the kind of heat that bangs all night or that stays on so high you have to open your window to cool the room down? i can't stand old heating systems! thanks for any input.

Here's an interesting sales history. Last March, #26QO sells for $7.65M to his neighbor in #26R. Then a few months later, rather than take the money and run, he pays $6M for #20KJ, the seller of which vamoosed.

2009/03 #26QO $7,650,000 +354%

1998/08 #26Q $700,000 +40%
1996/09 #26Q $500,000 +142%
1989/03 #26Q $206,000 (at conversion)

1998/06 #26O $985,000 +64%
1994/05 #26O $600,000 +107%
1989/04 #26O $289,500 (at conversion)

2009/09 #20KJ $6,000,000 +416%

2001/07 #20K $765,000 +113%
1997/03 #20K $360,000 +658%
1989/03 #20K $47,500 (at conversion)

Hi All,

I too am interested in this building. Is there a gym, or a roof-top deck, or a pool in the Century? I've seen a couple of broker websites say this place has a pool... just curious. If no gym, are there any plans (or space) to put one in?

Thanks much -

Jake 10. There is no pool or gym but the YMCA pool and gym are literally adjacent - and the area is swarming with upmarket gyms. The building is very well run and friendly.

Are all rentals handled through (expensive) brokers?
