Discussion about Crescent Club at 41-17 Crescent Street in Long Island City
New building in Long Island City called the Crescent Club. They are using the “club” angle to highlight the amenities in this Karl Fisher/Andres Escobar building: 24-hour doorman, Fresh Direct, on-site parking, fitness center, outdoor pool...and putting green. They have a screening room, rooftop club room and terrace as well. Studios through 3’s. No pricing info yet.

It's still Long Island City!!
Julia,
Checkout the LIC Vision doc from the New York City Economic Development Commission. Go to NYCEDC.com and search Long Island City Vision - pretty amazing. Also, the new Cresent Club site is up at www.crescentclublic.com
I took some shots of this building last week: http://www.flickr.com/photos/liqcity/sets/72157603496088409/
I've been long time Fresh Direct customer, probably one of their launch ones, and I find that their service and quality has deteriorated a lot recently. (Case ready poultry? wtf? that's walmart) I don't see that as that much of a selling point as it used to be.
We agree. Recently, the drivers have given me pause to even open the door! Boxes are sometimes open and we usually miss one or two items. Fresh Direct may need to start a quality review.
The neighborhood around Cresent Club is really quite bad. Can they actually move units at those prices?
Would love to hear from people who have bought here - any buyers or are they all in hinding?
I'm thinking of buying there. I would like to hear from someone that bought there.
I am looking into this place. are they selling? I am also looking at powerhouse as well
anyone else checking out the LIC condo market recently? I've been making the rounds and it's interesting the disparate price per square foot asking prices happening between the different developments. Anyone else thinking of jumping in?

Does anyone know when Crescent club wil come back on market? It's my understanding that the bank has foreclosed and taken over the loan. It may be possible they bring it back on the market at drastically reduced prices?
I don't know how drastic you're expecting. The lender ultimately sold off the units at Forte at only about a 30% discount off the developer's last prices (maybe a 40% total discount off the peak). S
Anyway I spoke to the broker a few months ago and he told me they were in negotiations with the lender and not planning to hand over the keys. Not sure what has changed since then. ACRIS doesn't show any bulk transfer of the units, and anyway I understand construction completely stopped on the building last summer at about 85% complete. Have you seen someone working on the place?
What is going on with this building? I've been past it many times over the past 6 months and it's just sitting there, doesn't seem to be any work being done or any sales.
another harebrained scheme in awful toxic long island city
this should be fun!!
Wow, now even the developer's web site is down. Pretty sad that a building so close to completion is just going to sit empty like that. Surely the bank could step in and sell the units for less than the cost of completing the project . . . So why don't they?
I guess LIC is still not that hot.

Is there some process on Streeteasy for when a building is converted from condo to rental?
This building still has a lot to offer but just realize that the management's idea of luxury is no where close to that of luxury apartments in manhattan. I suppose you get what you pay for and this is what happens with lack of competition in this area. I know these are "first world problems" and I shouldn't complain but when paying this much in rent, it's ridiculous that some of these are even issues.
The interior of the apartments are beautiful and generally no issue other than the floor that easily scratches. The amenities sound great but as you'll see below they are not all what they seem. However, things like fridge storage, bike storage have so far not been an issue whereas other things mentioned below have.
The management is horrible and generally unresponsive. Here are a few examples of why this building is not the "luxury" building that it claims to be.
1) i moved in after the balconies were ready but several neighbors told me that the balconies were not constructed for months after they were promised and that the contractors messed up so (as I can notice too) they had to redo the balconies so now it looks much less appealing...almost like the building has braces.
2) the pool still isn't ready though we were promised it would open around Memorial Day. Management sent an email saying it was a contractor but seems a little shady.
3) The gym at times this summer has smelled like garbage and two of the three ellipticals remain unfixed despite repeated complaints.
4) Only one doorman (Elton) goes above an beyond and he will be getting all if my Christmas bonus vs the other doormen.
5) This is not the building/managements fault but in general would say unless youre really high up, think twice before getting an apt facing crescent st as you will be woken up by the ridiculous honking by cabs/cars as they make their way onto the 59th st bridge.
