$824K divided by 1700...hmmmmm.... It looks close to $500psf.... I wonder who's been calling for $500psf?

looks like 824k was the closing price in 2000. would've been a nice flip (before LTCG tax returns in full force, anyway)

w67thstreet isn't known to let the facts get in the way of a good story.

Sometimes bubba reminds me a little of Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz.

Click you heels and repeat after me, "there's no place like a 500psf home, there's no place like a 500psf home, there's no place like a 500psf home"

If you say it enough times you can travel through time to a decade old sponsor offering. Persistence is key.

As one who has been quietly rooting for W67's prediction, let me defend him against the Dorothy charge and morph it into a Time Traveller fantasy. If every bubble reverts to the mean, then W67 is just a bit early in his prescience because the 2000 price would be the mean. And here I post my favorite chart once again ( from another SE poster).

http://www.theatlantic.com/business/archive/2010/08/home-prices-may-drop-another-25/62049/?source=patrick.net#toolsTop

I don't think that I will be lucky enough to get 500 psf but I think Manhattan will see it. I hope to get something nice and upscale for under 900 psf. However, I think the new QE II will push the timeline down the road. The market is doing well, people are being forced into assets, the "buy now" mentality will kick in with new wave of foreigners and lemmings alike. So I think w67's prediction which should have been realized in the next year or two will more likely be 3 or 4 yrs -- plus he may have to adjust his prediction for inflation. So when we quote him in future let's remember to adjust to 2008 dollars.

Danka apt23. Nonada, spinny is correct there is a 2000 closing at $824k

Nothing like seeing with your very own eyes the crazy price inflation to see what greenspan has brought. If I recall, 2000/2001 was the year the tech bubble burst and the economy was headed towards a very mild recession so it jives nicely with the $824k closed price, a terrorist attack, subsequent greenie turning on spigots at full blast and 6 years later $1.5mm. To me the 'verbal' analysis is much more colorful than seeing two data points.

Btw, just purchased a 50 footer from a Florida bank. Flmaoz. The bank took it in the Jimmy, thank you all taxpayers! I got it for the cost of the four $10k winches, $20k in electronics and some other stuff. They threw in the entire boat and sail inventory as a gift. So to all you American taxpayers, I thank you on your generosity!
