Discussion about
Did you get your Manhattan co-op or condo inspected? How much did the service cost? Do you have any advice and/or recommendations regarding inspections? For what it is worth, I am considering purchase of a 1920s co-op on the UWS. Thank you.

It's always a good idea to get an inspection....the wiring might need work or replacement, etc.

Thank you, we want to schedule an inspection. Any recommendations of companies in this line of work? I called Heimer Engineering for a quote and information.

Do you have an inspector recommendation?

Get Manhattan con-inspection team, one of the most reputable & inexpensive in the business. Good luck!

I bought a coop apt in a building built in 1890. I thought it was a good idea to get an inspection especially for that reason. I think it was a waste of $400. They can't really check all that much because the electrical wiring is usually in the walls and or behind cabinets in and it's hard to check for plumbing issues. Everything else your attorney should find out from reading the board minutes- when the roof was done, how old the boiler is, etc. All the things that the inspector did- I would have done.... check the windows, the ac and heat by blasting it and waiting a minute, checking stove, toilets, fixtures... Remember you only own and are responsible for the walls in so for example if a pipe bursts it's the building's responsibility, not yours.
