It is beautiful......just spooky! And yes, 18 million is too much just to overlook the central courtyard.

Couldn't sell during the boom years. What chance has it now?

I like it. I find it romantic & fantastic. The prices at the Dakota can also be fantastic, however. They apparently don't really want to sell this place unless they get their price; perhaps some day they will.

Except for that one cheerfully decorated bedroom, it seems as though the owner has chosen to celebrate the lack of light.

I understand the Adams Family has seen the place and is very interested. Their only concern is that drug dealing Banderas guy on the first floor and the possibility that the board hates people of a different color...theirs being extremely pale white.

Given the board's difficult reputation (based on the recent lawsuit against them by the former board president), even people willing to pay that amount of money are gonna have hurdles to jump.

I recall reading in a book (name?? and I'm paraphrasing) that Roberta Flack was leery of the board for a long time after she wanted to (and did) overhaul her apartment, by lowering the ceilings and making the decor white with a grand piano in her parlor. She did claim though that after awhile, she and the board came to a mutual respect for one another.

I'd buy it if only they'd repair or replace the bathtub.

No whirlpools, alanhart.
Not to be rude, but wouldn't you be leery of anyone who wanted to lower the ceilings in the Dakota? You could achieve that objective by moving to any number of buildings on CPW - not sure why you would want to destroy a jewel and maybe impact resale.

I would spend 18 million just to find out what a "shaving clost" is.

that is the most mfugly renovation and decor i have seen in a looong time. i'd definitely knock a million off to demolish absolutely everything the previous owners put into that place.

It's a bathroom with no bathtub or toilet.

In the "credit where credit is due [if true]" category, the floorplan specifies a measurement that extends from "inside glass" as well as one that (who cares?) measures from outside of exterior walls ... and the listing states the smaller of those two. Land sakes alive!

"18 1/2 million and no en suite master bath and no laundry room??????"
Well, after spending $18.5MM I don't think I'd be washing my own panties. Whoever is doing the laundry can take it to the basement or to all be dry cleaned or whatever.
Not so sure I'd fancy a chamber pot, though, but no bath in bedroom is sort of derigeur for the era, isn't it?

For 18.5 million my clothes should not be washed in a shared washer and dryer.

The shaving closet is that passageway between those 2 bedrooms West of the kitchen, with the sink & the closet.

$18 million and no view.
