Discussion about
I saw an apartment a number of years ago and it was pulled off the market. Would love to contact the owner to see if there is any chance that they will be placing it back on the market. I went into ACRIS(?) and couldn't find out how to access this info. Help please!
Send a letter to "owner" at the address? Or give the letter to the door attendant with a tip to give it to the owner?
coop or condo?
Thanks for your advise SkinnyNsweet - I'll try it. The property is a coop.
check property records thru acris
if they bought before 2004, coops were not publicly recorded. You could search for phone numbers associated with the address for a name, and then send a letter. Use reverse directory.
I got lost in Acris. Not really user friendly, but maybe it's just me. I think they have had this property for some time, long before 2004, so I guess that eliminates an acris search. Thanks all for your input. I think I'll go with the a letter and tip to the doorman.. Many thanks
Good thread. SkinnyNsweet, what amount tip would you suggest? Presumably this would apply to asking after availabilities in targeted buildings as well?
I was thinking $20. Is this off base?
Is this reasonable??
lol...u kidding me? are u an idiot? send a letter to the address or drop a letter off with doorman. wow...man, you're not very resourceful are you
If you have a subscription, you may be able to identify the owner here on Streeteasy.
If you identify the owner, why tip the door attendant? FedEx/UPS isn't required to tip the doorman to deliver a package. Even if you didn't know the owner's name, hand deliver the letter and simply tell the attendant, "I'm dropping off this letter for 15F." Why are we assuming that a doorman will only do his/her job if he/she receives a tip. Now asking the doorman for the owner's name is another story.
First be sure she doesn't have a restraining order against you. You should really move on.
Poke around Google for 'reverse address' locator search engines. You will likely need to pay a fee for one that actually works but could be worth a try.
Thanks to all - with exception of jakedavid. Why so angry and abusive? The owner does not live in the apartment I was looking at, therefore cannot just post a letter. I'm going to drop the letter with the doorman and, if I don't hear back, then will take alanhart's advice and just move on.
If you really, really want to get the info, hire a private investigator. Most likely, PI could get this info in a few minutes by investigating the apt #.
Do a search for the property, apartment and address. If they are dumb as the rest of us, they have probably contributed to some politicians, and those records show up publicly.
