Discussion about
http://www.crainsnewyork.com/article/20110227/REAL_ESTATE/302279964# "Under the new pricing plan, a 682-square-foot one-bedroom suite is going for $1.646 million, down 22%. A 422-square-foot studio is selling for $1.023 million, down 12%." They are STILL dreaming, IMO. A $1.6M STUDIO?!! What the . . . ? I'm sure some idiot will use this as an indicator of a depressed Manhattan market, when in reality it's an indicator of gross over pricing. Even after the chop, it's still ridiculous.

And remember - you can only live there 120 days a year. And did you see the maintenance on these units? That 422 sf studio? Almost $3,000 month.

$2424/sq foot plus $3000/month for something you can use 120 days a year?

If they drop the price another 70% they might get close to fairly priced!

If any potential buyers are out there, I have a bridge I would like to sell you!

Plus, it is literally impossible to replicate the ownership experience by say renting or mabye staying in the hotel.

But you can fake it by standing across Varick at the tunnel entrance for a few minutes.

Meanwhile, the St Regis, another condo hotel concept, is offering over 1,000 sq ft for $290K. If you're dumb enough to like this hybrid timeshare idea.

My question on both: do you pay the monthly maintenance fee for the full year, if you're only there for a week?

Who is this dumb?
