He and I paid the rent with the money we made off of you in the stock market.

Thanks for asking!

Hopefully their rent was enough to allow the landlord to (just barely) stave off foreclosure for another month.

One day at a time ... one day at a time ... landlord doesn't need that drink ... one day at a time.

"Hopefully their rent was enough to allow the landlord to (just barely) stave off foreclosure for another month."

Was less than his mortgage payment, unfortunately.

Paid my rent check with only a portion of the interest earned off of the principal that would have otherwise been the down payment.

Which, if said principal had been invested in a condo/coop, would have been worth less, not more.

SteveF sounds more and more like perfitz every day. I guess bankruptcy is in the cards for him, too.

Wbottom:....you.. you pay for my mtge and cc payments. You. Y-O-U-R money is paying my bills s-cker and the best part is I get to deduct all that interest/tax and cc charges that Y-O-U pay.

Your portfolio id doing just fine huh? Ya well, I have a feeling your fine portfolio keeps you up a at night.

oh btw, why would you be wasting time here when there are some many companies/stocks to screen and analyze? I would imagine that all your time would be keeping up with companies intrinsic values? What a BS artist.

I wonder if they're going to make a modern-day sequel The King's Speech to shed light on the plight of online stutterers.

matson jones, wow you're very much misinformed. You would have scored huge if you had bought in 2008/2009 and in 2010 but to a lesser extent. Your Manhattan condo would have trounced your equity returns.

Of course, he's paying half of what you are actually paying... and he's not losing equity on top of that.

He wins!

"matson jones, wow you're very much misinformed."

Coming from SteveF... precious.

"Your Manhattan condo would have trounced your equity returns."

Only if you don't know math... like Steve.

Manhattan median apartment since Steve said it was time to buy - down 13%
Stock Market since Steve said it was time to sell - up 75%

Never ceases to make me laugh.

Steve - you have not seen my equity returns. Unless you're saying that Manhattan condo/coops have offered better than a 25% compound annualized ROR for the past 2-3 years.

Seriously. I'm not a troll, and I'm not yelling at you. But you're absolutely, completely 100% wrong. I'm sorry about that, but that's the fact, at least in my case.

i paid my rent happily on the 1st - i gotta love how my LL is willing to subsidize my lifestyle choice with an irrational investment philosophy - long live the StevF's of the world!

given where the rent to buy ratio is i propose we all tip our glasses tour LL's. In fact, i propose a Financially Illiterate Land Lord Appreciation day.
