Discussion about
I'm looking for an experienced wallpaper contractor who has installed wallpaper seamlessly in a gut renovation (so behind pipes, crown molding, light switches/outlets, etc). Thanks!

Did you get helpful advise from Primer05? he responds to many questions here and trying to solicit business for himself. Can be a tricky situation here...

Realtime,

What is tricky about it? I have been a contractor for over ten years, I think my portfolio speaks for itself. I don't expect people to hire me just from my posts. There are people that come on here looking for contractors. I offer to meet them and go over their project. I have met many people who do not post but do read them and call for my advice. I am happy to help them. Again I ask, what is tricky?

Realtime,

I thought you looked familiar, it seems whenever I post you post soon after telling people to be careful when finding a contractor online. I would like to put you at ease.

You are welcome to come with me to all my projects that I have going on now and have just completed. I welcome you to talk to all the owners as well. One of which I met here.

I think you will find that just because you got burnt once not everybody is like that.

If you want to have a look please call me at 646-436-3942 or email me at primerenovations@mac.com

Primer05, you are very upfront about suggesting that people will contact you. Craigslist is also full of ads for services. People have been burnt by anonymous and unreliable contractors. your suggestion to check references is valid. I doubt that anyone provides unhappy customers as references. Can you give haideestreet a reference for someone who was very unhappy with your work? are all your customers always happy? Perhaps I am one of your unhappy customers? Perhaps I do not know who you are? The only suggestion I am making is that your self promotion should be carefully evaluated by anyone who is using an online services...

Agreed. I think that anyone interested in hiring someone should check their references as well as visit sites. I do not think because someone is on the Internet is better or worse then finding someone elsewhere. The best way is to get a referral from a friend or relative. Not everyone has that. Even with that, I cannot tell you how many times I have been called in after a contractor who has either been fired or left a project and they were referred by someone they knew

In my ten years I would say there have been about 5 clients, for one reason or another was not happy. I could also say that I was not thrilled with all my clients. I think you can find unhappy people with every co. I know people that are not happy with all companies.

Don't you think that everyone should be evaluated?

I'd like so totally put 1960s Chinese restaurant red velvet chinoise wallpaper all over my apartment, if only I could find some.

Needs,

Wallpaper is actually back in a big way. Not so much as in the past as far as doing whole rooms but an accent wall here and there look great and know we are starting to paper just ceilings.

Look at the third picture, its the only paper we installed in that 3 bedroom apt.
