How long does it take to complete a straightforward bathroom renovation? (Note this is assuming there is no major plumbing work that needs to be done.) The bathroom is very small but includes a tub/shower, sink, and toilet. The basic layout will remain the same, but all the cabinetry/ tiles/ fixtures will be replaced and the walls will be skim-coated. Thanks.
Floors coming out? I'd say a week and a half (couple days worth of demo, day to put in the new fixtures, couple days to lay the new floor, couple of days to deal with the walls, a day to play with the fixtures and hang towel bars.)
But this of course assumes that your contractor sends people to you every day. Since a bathroom is a "small" job, it might take longer as the contractor bunches your job with other jobs to get the maximum efficiency out of crews...this could become a month, or even six weeks, if you're not careful.

Thanks, Ali. That's in line with what we were thinking - 1.5-2 weeks if the team focuses on the job!
Hello Triple,
It seems as nothing in the city takes a week to complete. It sounds like it sound but will it:
What kind of building do you live in? Every building that I work in requires that once we touch a tile we have to remove all the branch lines back to the riser, all of a suddun you do have plumbing, this will increase the time and money you will spend.
If that has to be done assume if you have a good contractor it will take three weeks. It should take two but it probably will not.
Make sure you get an alteration agreement from your building management co. Also try to schedule a day with the super if you need a building shutdown for the plumber, they usually need at least two days notice for that.
Thanks, Primer. To be fair, our biggest concern in term of timing is how long we need to keep our dog out of the apartment! We will be gone on vacation for 10 days during the rennovation, but will make sure our dog stays away for a bit longer.
Our super is in the loop and helping to coordinate the project (which will not begin for seven weeks or so). I imagine that there will need to be some plumbing work - pre-war building and the bathroom hasn't been touched in far too long.
