Does anyone have any ideas regarding good doorman buildings around columbus circle...need a 2BR or 3 BR. Looking to spend around 5K-6.5K per month. And when is the time to start looking for a june 15th lease. Any ideas are apprecaited.
I would start looking now. There are a couple Brodsky buildings in the area such as One Columbus Place over on 59th and 9th. The Nicole on 55th and 9th is nice. On 57th between 8th and 9th, the Colonnade (condo building but some owners rent out) and Park Towers South (two towers, 1 on 57th and 1 on 58th). A little further south - the Ellington on 52nd and 8th, the Metro on 53rd and 8th, Midtown West on 53rd and 9th. Good luck.
I rented at 1 Columbus Place for a few years, it was a bit shy of a Related type building in terms of amentities and had popcorn ceilings and outdated counters and cabinets but I had a massive 2br with floor to ceiling windows on a very high floor with a nice terrace for under $5k. Very convenient location.
if you pop your head in the 58th st entrance at the colonnade(the service side) they have a bulletin board where the owners post their places for rent.
Bldgs get cheaper the further west you go.
Try the Regent (45W60) in addition to ones mentioned above. Go to the Brodsky website for other bldgs (1 Columbus is on the pricier side for Brodsky).
THe COncerto (also a Brodsky) is at 60th and Amsterdam- a little further away-very nicely run building
I would suggest checking out the Colonnade's streeteasy page in addition to relying solely on what's posted in the package room, as most availabilities don't end up on the bulletin board. The doormen at the front of the building (the 57th St entrance) will also generally know what's available or soon-to-be and will be more helpful than the porters in the back for intel.
thanks for all the information. does anyone have any more thoughts on any of the managment companies, brodsky vs. rose vs. related. any companies to avoid?
...... Oh I'll keep my mouth shut.
Brodky is great. Having rented at Glenwood & Brodky, Brodsky is very well managed and easy to deal with.
I rented with Brodsky and Related, each for several years. Both were easy to deal with and managed the properties well, hired good workers, repairs were always timely, buildings well maintained. Related's product was a little more upscale in terms of finishes, lobby decoration and amenities, which you paid for. If you're looking at Columbus Circle, it frankly makes more sense not to pay for additional bells and whistles and instead sign up for a gym membership at Equinox in the TWC and/or use the two parks (Riverside and Central).
