I'm planning on installing new wood floors in my 900 sq ft condo. My contractor steered me towards lumberliquidators.com to take a look at different types of wood. I selected "Natural Strand Bamboo Quick Click." http://bit.ly/eZvyVz My contractor told me that this is a cheap, click-together, floating floor that he would not recommend for a nice NYC apartment. He said he would look for a similar product in a thicker engineered flooring. I have three questions: 1. Is his assessment of this floor's cheapness accurate? Is this floor to be avoided? 2. Does bamboo only come in engineered form, or does it also come in solid hardwood form? If it comes it both forms, is one preferable to the other? 3. Can anyone recommend a higher quality, aesthetically similar bamboo floor? Thanks. [less]
I would recommend avoiding any bamboo flooring from lumber liquidators! All bamboo flooring is not created equal. Most bamboo flooring has performance issues. I would highly recommend going with solid wood or engineered wood for beauty, performance, lifespan, toxicity, carbon footprint, and environmental issues, but if you simply MUST have bamboo go with Eco-Timber.
