Are we ready for a new behemoth to shadow Central Park? Slated to open at over $4,000 per square foot. At least. Seriously, do we need a new contender for tallest residential building in NYC?

No. We will never be ready for this. I pity anyone who lives nearby, and the construction? Back in the day when second avenue wanted tall buildings they ended up with a dark canyon. It was because of that the community board on the Upper Westside fought for dedades to put the kibosh on any tall buildings. Riverside Boulevard came late for Trump as he was denied the frist time, buying about ten more years of light for the area.

I case you didn't have a feel for how truly tall this monster is, check out the new website.

I'm glad to see this building finally happening. It symbolizes growth and energy for NYC.

This is only a problem for people whose view is being blocked. It's a win for everyone else. Manhattan has a shortage of apartments. People who live in that building can walk to work, so it will make the subways less crowded.

Wow the daughter of the Russian oligarch who bought the penthouse at 15 CPW must be pissed. She loses her crown of owning NYC's most expensive apt. How they will sell the rest of the apts at 4k/psf I have no idea!

needsadvice: They are already losing the claim for tallest residential building. Now they are going to have to compete with the city’s tallest residential tower just a few blocks east:

How Extell got a couple of Albany hacks to include One57 in the 421a program: http://www.nytimes.com/2013/06/25/nyregion/luxe-builders-chase-dreams-of-property-tax-exemptions.html?smid=pl-share

So, the buyers at One57 will be among the 150,000 units getting $1.1 billion in exemptions.
